This application is for a scholarship for a graduating high school senior for undergraduate studies at an accredited college, university, or post-secondary technical school. The applicant must be either a resident of Lancaster County, a graduate of Lancaster High School, or a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock. The scholarship will be granted without consideration of financial need and is renewable for a maximum of eight semesters or until graduation in an undergraduate program, whichever comes first.

In order for the scholarship committee to consider your request you must submit this form by March 1 to: The Mary Winston McCullough Scholarship Committee, Grace Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1059, Kilmarnock, VA 22482. The completed application may be hand delivered or mailed, but it must be received in the business office by the end of the business day, 4:00 pm, on March 1^st.

The following additional documents must accompany your application:

A full transcript of your high school record, including first semester senior year. Second semester

senior year grades must be forwarded to the committee at the end of the school year before funds

can be forwarded to the post-secondary school.

Two letters of reference from teachers, employers, or other non- family members who know you.

A personal essay of 250-500 words. (See form field below)

Optional: You may submit a performance video, artwork, photography, etc., by usb thumb drive. Please be sure to label the material with your name and address and, if you choose to do so, include a self-addressed envelope so that the material can be returned to you.

Finalists for the McCullough Scholarship must meet with the Grace Church Scholarship Committee for a personal interview to be scheduled by the committee between March 1^st and April 1st.

The McCullough Scholarship will be awarded by May 1, contingent on satisfactory final grades being forwarded to the committee at the end of the school year.

Scholarship payments will be sent to the institution of your choice. Please provide the address of the finance office of the college, university or technical school you will be attending.

Describe any work experience you had while attending high school. This may include office work, sales, farming, restaurants, seafood industry, boat yards, baby sitting, yard work, hospital or nursing homes, and housework for those other than your family. For each job, include your employer’s name and number of hours per week you worked.

Describe your participation in any school organizations, clubs, activities, or sports in the last three years.

Describe your participation in any community organizations in the past three years. Include your church participation and activities.

Personal Essay: Write an essay of 250-500 words to answer the question posed below. The Mary Winston McCullough Scholarship was created by the bequest of the late Alan McCullough, Jr. Grades or participation in organized activities will not be the sole measures of merit for this scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who demonstrates a passionate interest in some field, possibly one quite out of the ordinary. How do you meet this description? It is the responsibility of the applicant to send to the committee all of the materials requested. Please attach full transcripts and 2 letters of reference and . . . to office@graceepiscopalkilmarnock.com .

The McCullough Scholarship is renewable for up to three successive years for a total of four years; however, it is the responsibility of the recipient student to maintain communication with the committee and forward copies of transcripts at the appropriate times of the year in order to receive funding for additional years.
