Grace Church Scholarship

Requirements

Requirements to Apply

If you haven’t already, please review all of our application guidelines before submitting this form. This application is for a scholarship for a graduating high school senior for undergraduate studies. Assistance is limited to Graduates of Lancaster High School and those who are active members of Grace Episcopal Church, and High School Graduates who are Lancaster County Residents.

All students who receive assistance must attend a Virginia State supported college or university.

The GPA (grade point average) for Lancaster High School graduates, or verified homeschooled Lancaster County Residents planning to attend a four year college, will be no lower than 3.00. Returning students will be judged on a case by case basis, but the higher the GPA, the better.

The GPA for Lancaster High School students planning to attend a Community College will be no lower than 2.25.

Grace Church Applicants will be judged on the merits of their application.

Students must apply in writing, using the standard form in use at Lancaster High School or the application available through the Grace Church Office.

No application will be considered without a copy of Page 1 of the Student Aid Report from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This page must show the “EFC” as calculated for Federal Aid purposes.

Applications MUST be submitted by July 1st, 2025. Those applying later then this date can be considered only if funds remain.

Assistance for Summer School students will depend on a case by case study for both Lancaster HS and Grace Church students as funding permits.

The committee will look at just about any request. Our basic wish is to help those who, without our help, would have a difficult time attending college.

Grants will be made within the guidelines established by an agreement between the Scholarship Committee and the Vestry of Grace Church, dated November 3, 1997, the total amount of grants not to exceed the amount designated by the Treasurer as annual income from the Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Grant money will be sent directly to the student’s college / university and will be administered by the school’s finance office.

In general, two-thirds (2/3) of the total given each year will be made to Lancaster High School graduates and one-third (1/3) to Grace Church students. This is not binding, but we will attempt to keep the balance.

Assistance may be continued throughout the college career, although this assistance may decrease each year. Students seeking such assistance must re-apply each year using the form available through the Grace Church office.

A student is eligible for scholarship assistance for a maximum of eight (8) semesters or until graduation in an undergraduate program, whichever comes first. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students.

Grace Church does not provide assistance for graduate studies.
